Would you know fine art if you were sitting on it? Would you recognize it if you were serving drinks from it? What if you were sleeping peacefully beneath it? Would you know?
I thought fine art was something in a museum hanging on the wall, on a pedestal or behind glass. After 23 years in Interior Design, I can tell you that some people live in, on and around fine art every day in their homes. Fine art furnishings are unique creations tailored by masterful eyes and hands to reflect a personality of an individual.
If you were seated on the Oasis sofa from Marge Carson, featured here in the entry of a client’s home, would you consider it fine art? Fabrics and trims chosen from the tens of thousands available to welcome you home and make your guests feel special. A hand shaped and finished wood frame that glows beneath the light of the crystal chandelier above.
When you mix a drink at this custom bar cabinet for a client named “James” you might begin to feel like “007” himself. The lines and exterior finish of this cabinet reflect the base of the client’s custom dining table and the vivid colors of the interior mimic the collection of fine art on the walls. The bar raises and lowers to display a piece of art from their collection.
We wanted the client who sleeps beneath this chandelier to feel the same glow and warmth and magic that she inspires in all her friends. The custom chandelier is crated of art glass petals or flames and warms the entire room with its soft glow and the magical colors and shadows it casts.
It can be as simple as choosing the right finish color from all the paints available on the paint fan to as complicated as having a piece of furniture created uniquely and expressly for you. Ask your John-William Interiors designer for the details!
